4x Table Fastest Fish
Interactive whiteboard maths fluency game for the classroom.
Suggested Gameplay
Put the children into teams. Two works best, but it is possible to play with more. Line up the teams alongside each other so that the front child in each team is facing the interactive whiteboard. It might be an idea to filter children into the back of the teams so the lines are not too long to begin with.
Start the activity. For every question, the child that answers correctly first goes to the back of the line and the other child/children are out.
- If the picture of the shark appears, the first child to shout ‘Shark Attack!” gets to eliminate a player from one of the other teams.
- If the picture of the fishing net appears, the first child to shout “Hole in the Net!” gets to rescue a player from their team that is ‘out’. If they haven’t lost any players, they can steal a player from the other team.
- If the picture of the whirlpool appears, the players at the front of the lines swap places.
The winning team is the team that still has players left when the other teams are all out.
Or you could make up your own rules! Please let me know if you can think of any other bonuses or penalties that could be hidden amongst the questions.
